Two Awards at the International Film Festival in Fribourg

The Georgian project CORN ISLAND and the Lebanese project AL-WADI (The Valley) have been awarded in Fribourg.

At the International Film Festival in Fribourg CORN ISLAND by Georgian film director George Ovashvili is selected by the audience and wins the Audience Award.

AL-WADI (The Valley) by Ghassan Salhab, Lebanon, has been awarded with the FIPRESCI prize.
The Jury wrote:After struggling to select a single film between three serious contenders, we, the members of the FIPRESCI jury, are honored to present the International Critics Prize to a work that captivated our imagination through its arresting balance of mystery and revelation, of interior and exterior spaces, of clandestine enterprise and the chaotic outer world that encroaches upon it. The film uses signs without coherent referents to describe a global existential state of disorientation, identity lost and the absence of a possible future.
