TOTEM is a film about life, family, and death. The main character is Sol, a seven-year-old girl who is getting ready for her father’s (Tonatiuh) 40th birthday party.
It will probably be the last one they get to spend together since he suffers from a terminal illness. The story revolves around the concept celebration. The family and friends are gathered to celebrate someone who's not willing to celebrate and to be celebrated. Regardless, the family insists on throwing a large party as an act of grief. Roberto,Esther,Alejandra, Nuri, Lucia and Napo, who are the immediate family, serve as the advance party to carry out this great event. Each of the people who are present will reconsider their lives and the child that once lived in them, who is no longer there, as an act of redemption.
